ALBERT PORTER-CEO and co-founder
With over 17 years experience managing various local night clubs and music venues, Albert has a wealth of knowledge and trouble shooting experience when it comes to events. Now in his 11th year with the Ottawa Bluesfest, and 3rd with the Ottawa Folk Festival, he has risen to the positions of director of backstage and artist security, for both festivals. Regularly staffing, coordinating, and managing more then 40 staff a night, he has built a team of highly trained and experienced security staff that can handle working with crowds of 40000+ fans. Albert has help annually in the design of the evacuation plan for the BluesFest, and the Ottawa Folk festival. In July 2011 when the Bluesfest main stage collapsed in a freak storm, Albert and his team were a vital part of the successful evacuation of the park, and establishing a safe perimeter around the collapsed structure, until the emergency response teams arrived. Albert has also worked for 8 years as a rigger, and stagehand for IATSE local 471 at such venues as the National Arts Centre. Scotiabank Place, and Centrepointe Theater.
